My teaching now accounts for nearly twenty years of my life, which means I've been awfully fortunate in my work.  This semester I will share with students a variety of texts, including essays, comics and graphic novels, a collection of short stories, a novel, and some poetry--exploring ideas with students is one of the primary privileges of teaching. My colleagues represent a group of highly talented and dedicated teachers, and I am grateful for their support and friendship. Having landed in a beautiful part of California, I prefer spending my time out- rather than indoors, running the trails of the Sonoma coastline. At the moment, I am reading Infinite Jest, by David Foster Wallace (trying to finish for the third time), Nine Headed Dragon River by Peter Matthiessen, and comics by Jaime Hernandez.
