WE tHE FUTURE FELLOWS

Are you exploring a future profession that involves leadership, is within the social or political sciences, or do you want to be an educator? Are you finding your way within social justice activism and want to bring necessary change to action?

We the Future Fellowship will guide and mentor you through a research initiative grounded in social justice, equity research, and leadership development. Fellows will engage in a structured learning experience which will provide various opportunities to analyze and interpret data within social systems and how to apply it towards activism and/or policy change. The fellowship will conclude with a capstone project and public presentation at our annual We the Future Social Justice Conference

  • This paid internship averages 3.5 hours per week.
  • This opportunity will help you explore the context of different fields,
  • The fellowship will allow you build up your student engagement background for transfer applications as it demonstrates a commitment to your area of major and a rich learning experience outside of the classroom

Dr. Byron Reaves

The fellowship facilitation and mentorship will be led by Dr. Byron Reaves who Dr. Reaves facilitates professional development for faculty and practitioners across California and regularly supports colleges in redesigning structures and policies to better serve Black, first-generation, and historically marginalized students. Dr. Darla Cooper 

Guest facilitators will include Dr. Darla Cooper  who is an educational leader and expert in research and evaluation dedicated to using inquiry, data, and evidence to improve the lives of all community college students. She currently serves as the Executive Director for the Research and Planning Group for the California Community Colleges (The RP Group). Learn more about Dr. Darla Cooper 

Other conversations will involve support from SRJC faculty and staff who will ensure you get the most from your commitment to the fellowship.

  • Monday, Sept 8 at 12 noon – 1pm at the Petaluma Intercultural Center
